The first form of environmental education in a Romanian university begin in 1st October 1990 at the Faculty of Geography, “Babeş-Bolyai” University (at that time it was called Environmental Research), due to the efforts of brilliant Prof.univ.dr. This eager behaviour of the Cluj geographers later attracted others like biologists, chemists, physicists, geologists, technic-engineers and agricultural engineers, at the UBB as in many other universities in the country.
In 2002, the Rector of “Babeş-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca sustains the establishing of the Environmental Science Faculty as integrated academic preparation of specialists in this field, according to Judgments of the College Senate, the Senate and the Administration Board of the “Babeş-Bolyai” University.
