DESCRIPTION
MOSMIN aims to increase the use of EO data in the raw materials industry by commercialising innovations within the field of monitoring and management of mine waste deposits and stockpiles – critical areas in need of integrated data with improved accuracy, spatial coverage, depth penetration, and temporal resolution.
MOSMIN will leverage European space-based assets to develop geotechnical, environmental and geological tools and services with global market potential, boosting the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of mining operations.
The MOSMIN solutions will be tailored to the individual challenges of the mine site and include consultancy to maximise value from the data. By making these services available to the industry as well as regulatory bodies and public stakeholders, the project will help to increase transparency and accountability in the raw materials sector.
EXPECTED RESULTS
- Vertically integrated, Copernicus-based monitoring service for mining-related deposits, demonstrated at industrially relevant pilot sites in Europe, Chile, and Zambia
- Low-impact geophysical technologies applied to increase mine safety and profitability
- Cutting-edge machine learning algorithms applied to enhance the value of Copernicus products
- Increased market uptake for the Copernicus product family
