Strengthening TMF Safety: 2nd Transnational Partner Workshop

27/02/2025 - 28/02/2025

The 2nd Transnational Partner Workshop of the SAFETY4TMF project took place in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, on 27–28 February 2025, bringing together 59 participants from across the Danube region.

Hosted by Babeș-Bolyai University, the event served as a dynamic platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and networking—uniting stakeholders committed to improving Tailings Management Facility (TMF) safety and disaster preparedness.

Participants reviewed the project’s first-year progress, identifying both achievements and challenges while exploring practical solutions. The workshop also spotlighted upcoming pilot activities and TMF safety initiatives. These included early warning systems, flood modeling, LIDAR scanning, and real-time monitoring to improve risk assessment and preparedness.

The meeting underscored the critical role of collaboration, innovation, and knowledge-sharing in enhancing TMF safety and disaster response capabilities. Looking ahead, the project will concentrate on implementing pilot initiatives, completing peer-review visits, and launching targeted training programs.
