Rezumatul proiectului
Proiectul propune o abordare complexa a emisiilor de gaze cu efect de sera, constand intr-o cuantificare mai precisa a fluxurilor si o intelegere mai ampla a proceselor de eliberare a acestor gaze din crusta terestra. Studiul se concentreaza asupra principalelor gaze cu efect de sera, CO2 si CH4 si asupra poluanilor fotochimici proveniti din sistemele petrolifere si geotermale. Romania este una dintre tarile europene cu cele mai abundente manifestari de suprafata ale gazelor naturale si prezinta numeroase oportunitati pentru contributii substantiale in domeniul geochimiei gazelor, evaluarea fluxurilor de gaze de origine crustala inspre atmosfera si diverse aplicatii practice legate de explorarea si managementul zacamintelor de hidrocarburi, riscuri asociate emisiilor de gaze sau dezvoltare turistica. Studiile realizate anterior de echipa de cercetare a proiectului au oferit estimari ale emisiilor de metan din cateva zone cu resurse de hidrocarburi ale Romaniei si au pus in evidenta caracteristicile geochimice extraordinare ale unei arii. Totusi, informatiile colectate sunt inca insuficiente, atat in zonele purtatoare de hicrocarburi, cat si in cele geotermale. Sunt propuse doua obiective principale: clarificarea originii gazelor si cuantificarea fluxurilor, ce se vor materializa in doua baze de date, dedicate celor doua aspecte. Datele obtinute vor contribui la completarea Inventarului national al gazelor cu efect de sera si vor fi puse la dispozitia UNFCCC.
