An environmental engineer works to protect and improve the natural environment. They focus on reducing pollution and waste, improving air, water, and soil quality, and developing sustainable solutions that protect both human health and ecosystems.

 

How do you become an environmental engineer?

Environmental engineering is a dynamic and interdisciplinary field.

Our degree program is carefully designed to prepare future environmental professionals by providing a strong academic foundation and valuable hands-on experience. Now that you have the option to study in English, you will also gain a solid technical vocabulary that will boost your international career opportunities.

  • A comprehensive understanding of the field: You will gain interdisciplinary knowledge in the core natural sciences such as chemistry, physics, and biology, alongside essential engineering principles. The program also introduces related areas such as environmental economics, legislation, and regulatory frameworks, all of which are crucial for a career in environmental protection.
  • Strong emphasis on practical skills: Hands-on experience is central to our program, with extensive laboratory work and real-world field activities. Our modern, fully equipped laboratories provide the ideal setting to build the practical skills and confidence you need for a smooth transition into the workforce.
  • Real-world experience: Each year, you will complete internships with partner companies and environmental institutions. You will also have the opportunity to join research projects within the faculty’s research centers, gaining valuable experience even before graduation.

 

What will you study?

During your first years, you will build a solid foundation in fundamental engineering subjects. As you progress, you will explore specialized topics such as environmental monitoring and analysis, environmental risk assessment, resource management, and the development and implementation of environmental protection measures.

This structured approach ensures a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical expertise.

What skills will you gain — and how will they help you?

By the time you graduate, you will be prepared to:

  • Conduct environmental studies and provide consultancy services to assess and manage environmental risks.
  • Develop solutions to prevent, control, and remediate environmental damage, helping to safeguard both public health and the environment.
  • Perform environmental audits and inspections using specialized equipment to measure and analyze key environmental parameters.
  • Design and implement waste management systems, contaminated site remediation strategies, and environmental policies.

In addition to technical expertise, you will develop valuable transferable skills, including effective communication, teamwork in multidisciplinary settings, and critical and analytical thinking applied to environmental and sustainability challenges.
